Shriners Orthopedic Clinic
CARE for Children serves as a rural outreach site for Shriners Hospital for Children. A team of orthopedic specialists from Shriners Hospital in Erie, PA provide free examinations, consultation and treatment at the CARE office in Bradford. Over 200 children are treated annually. Telemedicine
In 2005 the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust funded CARE's Telemedicine Clinic. CARE is equipped to do remote exams with Shriners Hospital. Please contact CARE for more information.
Shrine Transportation Program
CARE for Children coordinates the McKean County Shrine Club’s Transportation Program. The Shriners provide free transportation to and from the Bradford Clinic and to and from appointments at Shriners Hospital in Erie. Prior to scheduling a ride review the Ride Guidelines and please schedule your ride ten days before your appointment to ensure we are able to secure a driver to make the trip. Brace Clinics
A qualified orthotist (brace specialist) from Presque Isle Orthopedic Laboratory in Erie, PA will attend clinic to do brace fittings, repairs and/or provide consultative services. www.pirt.us
Scoliosis Screenings
CARE physical therapists conduct scoliosis screenings at middle schools across the county. If additional evaluation is needed children are then referred to their pediatrician or to Shriners Clinic. To learn more about scoliosis please visit the National Scoliosis Foundation at www.scoliosis.org.
